Who Killed Papa Suresh?

The Latest Blog Post • Posted 1 year, 7 months Ago • February 15, 2007

I think everyone (including Mohinder, myself, etc.) has just been assuming that Sylar killed Professor Suresh.

For a while we had thought that Sylar was a madman who liked to kill. But now that we know about his powers (taking other’s), it’s different. His life’s goal is just to assimilate everyone’s powers – Acquisition, he calls it (Webcomic 20).

It’s also apparent that while he has no problem with killing, whatsoever, he doesn’t actually enjoy it or just do it for the sake of it. He’s pretty logical and decisive about that, albeit in a sick twisted way. He killed the other cheerleader because he thought it was Claire, the family (early on, when Parkman first hears the voices) because one of them had powers, and the truck driver (Webcomic 20) because he wanted his truck.

Anyways, it is pretty obvious that his main objective is acquisition and not murder. And he needs the information and research – the list, to accomplish this. That is why he doesn’t kill Mohinder. And that is why I don’t understand why, or don’t think that he did, kill Professor Suresh. Because he would be more valuable alive than dead. Far more; his list only had like 3 dozen people and I’m sure he knew there were many more.

Also, if he was to have killed Papa Suresh, it wouldn’t have occured as we saw in Mohinder’s flashback. For one, he, Suresh, had already seen Sylar, so there is no way that he would have just been driving him around in a taxicab. I think it must have been someone involved with the HRG & company, or even HRG himself. I also want to bring up that in one of the webcomics, they showed HRG (That is Claire’s dad/Paper man, and stands for Horn Rimmed Glasses, which is his official name for our purposes) taking pictures of Suresh and his taxi. They had also met in the past.

Does HRG have some powers that we don’t know about? One thing that could link them is that Claire’s name is on the list, and he doesn’t want that. Obviously. Of course, the organization (?) he works for is also heavily into this stuff. Or perhaps he was afraid of being on it himself, etc.

And here is something I’m unclear on, regarding Sylar’s powers. Can he see people’s powers and how they work just by seeing them? For example, when he sees HRG and knows about Claire and stuff. Or the first guy who he kills with a crystal. Or did he just know that because of knowledge and inference. Which would explain why he didn’t know the cheerleader was the wrong one till he saw injured Claire get up and heal. Or Charlie’s power till he watches her for a while and hears her talk about it (Comic 20).

Because if he could really just look at someone and see how they work and their powers, then he would know whether or whether not HRG had powers; and if he did, he would certainly have taken them earlier. Does this mean that HRG has no powers, or that he just has to open up their heads first to see?

One more inconsistency I just realized: early on when Audrey and Matt meet Sylar, he shoots right at him but Sylar just vanishes, almost like a ghost. But with HRG (last ep, at Claire’s house) he has to run away and he sustains some gunshot wounds (Comic 20). What’s up with that?

Whta do you think?

For those of you who think I’ve gone nuts, I’m talking about NBC’s Heroes – if you don’t watch it, you should.

Q1: Can Sylar see people’s powers and how they work just by seeing them?

Yes, I think so. If you have watched Episode 15 where Sylar meets Zane Taylor, Sylar seemed adamant about watching Zane performing his powers. Then in another scene, we then see Sylar being able to replicate that power for Mohinder’s benefit.

Q2 : Early on when Audrey and Matt meet Sylar, he shoots right at him but Sylar just vanishes, almost like a ghost. But with HRG (last ep, at Claire’s house) he has to run away and he sustains some gunshot wounds (Comic 20). What’s up with that?

Maybe it was the fact that Sylar was surprised by Claire’s dad bursting in that enable Claire’s dad to be able to shoot Sylar. Don’t know. :)

I’ve got loads to discuss with you about. But not i have to rush off home for holidays.
Here is my quick point.
Slyar…i think he is able to acquire other hero’s power only by opening up their brain. that is why you’ll notice from all the killing scene (after slyar slaughtered them) you’ll see the head of the person with the power will be sliced off, as he also slice off the cheerleader’s head. Do you remember in the beginning, when sylar found out about his power he could see through the head of the guy who has telekenesis? Then he sliced off the head to acquire it, using his tools (without the power to slice off head)
Just a thought, we do not know how many heroes’ power sylar have acquired. For all we know, he have gotten tonnes. Telekenesis, Slicing heads, Turn objects into melted stuff, Ability to locate other heroes (could be one of the 1st ability), and many more. Since the possibilities are endless, lets wait and watch.

IMHO, I think peter petrelli is way cooler.

I’ll try my best to find out about the other questions you asked. till then see ya

I don’t think he has the ability to locate other heroes. That’s why he needs the scientists still.

But yes, I am pretty sure now that he can’t see their powers just by looking at them, but only by getting closer to their brains and doing his stuff.

nwcx: Check out the latest webcomic, Sylar also has the power to create ice!

It may be a combination of both. He may just need to see it in action once. Eden utilized her power on him. Brian and Zane both demonstrated their powers to him. Also, if you recollect, there was that scene in Six Months Ago where Sylar needed to put the watch to his ear to confirm that the watch was slow by 2 seconds. He could have just opened the watch up to utilize his “power”. Of course, it could be argued that Sylar has evolved since then but your guess is as good as mine on this. ;)

Yeah, you probably are nuts. Remind to tell you a great Matt Parkman story when I see you at school.
