9/10 I really liked it. I wasn’t too sure what to expect but it wasn’t disappointing. The worst part of it I think was that (and I’ve been noticing this a lot lately) that the trailers and synopsis and stuff totally kill the story. I would’ve enjoyed the movie so much more had I not already known what was going to happen to him and when he was being tricked and setup, which was plainly revealed in the trailer. Though on the other hand then I might not have been compelled to go see it, so it’s a catch 22. Note to self: do not see Bourne Ultimatum and other movie trailers, no matter how badly you’re going to want to.
That aside, it was still really great. It reminded me a lot of Bourne, except with a military/sniper background rather than assasin/agent. But I really like these kind of rogue spy justice movies. The action scenes were fanastic, and the first 10 minute were really gripping. Emotionally too, it carried very well. You developed a great attachment for the hero and really grew to hate some people.
There wasn’t too much comedy in it, but the action was good. There was a lot more brute force and blowing things up, like a Bond movie, but still had more of the deeper intelligence/planning feel of Bourne. Good overall combo I think.
There was a lot of political stuff though, about the nature of the goverment (good and bad, mostly bad) my government teacher would have a field day.
All in all, I really liked it. If you liked Bourne or Casino Royale then this might be worth watching.
