I haven’t posted for quite a while so this is kind of a what’s up update/post. I have stories but I can’t write right now. In fact there’s not too much I can do at the moment…
But rewind a few weeks. I attended the SRF Convocation, an annual yearly international gathering here in LA, at the Hollywood Temple. There I was the photographer and it was real fun, as always.
But going back before that, my dad had gotten into a minor car accident when he was coming to pick me up from the UCLA orientation (July 27ish) so ohat was out of commission and we (or rather, I) was using a trashy rental car for the time being. Anyways (I’m saving the story for a full post, I’ve got a whole intro planned and everything!) I basically got into a car accident coming back from a class at convocation. So there’s still a lot of stuff to be handled with that, dealing with enterprise and the insurance company and everything. I’m feeling fine now, though.. or rather, I was.
But now there’s been a new and more painful development. As of a few days now, there’s been something wrong with my tooth. Or maybe that whole side of my mouth, it’s really hard to tell. I’ve got a dentist’s appointment tomorrow morning and I can’t wait. I’m taking a bunch of pain medications right now and they do help, for a few small parts of the day—when I can actually concentrate (right now, for example) but besides that I can’t really get any work done (or even sleep actually, I’ve been up all night for the last two days).
I did, however, find this web design scholarship via Paul Stamatiou’s blog and three or four days ago I started drafting my entry. I would’ve liked to have spent more time on it, there were some things I didn’t get to do (print stylesheets, try different header images, etc.) but I could only concentrate for like 2 hours yesterday when this was due so this’ll have to do for now. Here’s my entry if you’re curious.
Hopefully tomorrow will bring a healthy mouth and a nice scholarship. (Knock on wood—twice)
Also I’m going to have to put a better notice or something up, but Dragon Labs is indefinitely closed. I’m leaving the business for now, just taking some time off—to recuperate, and to try other things—or maybe go to Hawaii. I’ll be back of course, eventually, and with a bang — so, you’ll notice.

Update: back from the dentist. Apparently there’s an infection under the tooth. They didn’t fix anything but at least I know what’s wrong now. Got a new prescription for antibiotics and pain, and so it should go away within a few days. Then, I need to get a root canal and kill the nerve in that tooth (or something like that). Or actually I need to see a specialist and see if the tooth is viable, or otherwise it’s gotta be extracted.
I’ve gotta be creative in finding things to eat now, though, since I can’t really chew. Technically I can but touching the tooth (even with my tongue, when I’m not on a high dose of the meds) really hurts. I’ve had corn flakes like 6 times now, and they’re pretty good.
Update II: Well, either its getting better or the new pain meds work a lot better, but I was actually able to sleep tonight. I also got the scholarship. I just have to finish the wordpress integration and get it live today. Another dentist appointment is scheduled for tomorrow, where I might get the root canal and all, we’ll see.

Hmm. I thought all entries had to be 100% complete in order to qualify. Yet you still won without 100% integration?

George: Well it is complete. I don’t know if you’ve ever used Wordpress but there’s a lot more involved than just making a template. This is really just between Daniel and I, but since your tone sounds accusatory, we’ve gotta setup the permalink structure, setup some plugins, etc.
And yes, I’m still making some changes, because even though I won there are still some parts I’d like to improve.

Yes, I have. And I guess I should have read the post more. I actually integrated mine into Wordpress before the deadline. I guess I could have spent a lot more time on design than coding.
