Lightroom v Aperture

The Latest Blog Post • Posted 3 years, 5 months Ago • February 20, 2007

Well, Adobe Lightroom was just released. I’ve been using both Lightroom Beta and Apple Aperture over the last few months to process my RAW photos and they’re both pretty good at what they do.

Aperture’s interface is really sweet, though the latest version of Lightroom might have been enhanced since I last used it. CS3’s interface sure rocks. My favorite feature in Aperture is the Loupe. It makes it really easy to see the details. However, Lightroom has more powerful image options - with stronger curves, etc. Aperture however, has levels, which often come in handy if you don’t nail the exposure.

If only one of them had it all! I’ve been using Aperture lately, just because I enjoy using the Loupe to look at my images, but I might try out the final version of Lightroom and post a review. I think it will be packaged as part of Photoshop CS3, which would be pretty cool.
